Defender 90 Hard top Upgraded

The Defender L663 is a very popular edition to the Land Rover line up, with big shoes to fill for the ever loved previous generation, the Defender is growing in popularity. Largely thanks to the addition of the commercial line up or ‘Hard Top’ as they are named. These are a van version of the car from the outside however inside they feature extra load space thanks to no rear seats and a bulkhead.

These have proven popular with business owners, trades people and adventures looking to combine the off road capability of the Defender with the practicality of a commercial van. Like with all the Defender lineup, the hard top version is available in many trim levels. The most basic however is a visually stripped back function over form vehicle both inside and out. Whilst this works for some, others want a more premium looking vehicle and that’s where Assetti come in.

This Defender 90 hard top came in for some Assetti magic to completely transform it from bland to head turning.

When this vehicle came in to Assetti, it had 18″ basic white steel wheels, which is a nod to Land Rover heritage however it’s not a look for everyone. Along with this the standard trim offers black lower plastics in a textured finish again whilst durable, it cheapens the feel of the Defender. The striking silver front and rear bumper trims also had to go! When changed for our full replacement black packs, the vehicle is now all black everything and looking much more premium.

The addition of an LED roof light pod totally transforms the front of the vehicle and is a practical edition for any Defender.

The lower plastic door trims and bumper side moulding were also removed and instead, our premium side black pack kit was fitted to tie the entire lower half of the vehicle together. Paired with our gloss black rear spoiler and wheel cover, the rear end looks completely transformed. Our all black side steps were also added to aid vehicle access.

With the transformation of the body panels and trim, the elephant in the room was the 18″ white steel wheels. These were upgraded to 20″ gloss black wheels with a functional Yokohama Geolander tyre, ensuring maximum grip both on and off road. Wheels are often overlooked however they can make the biggest transformation to any build, especially when paired with the correct tyre.

One of our most popular options also made it’s way onto this build, the gloss black wide arch package. These extended arches really help to give the Defender a wider stance and offer more protection to the vehicle. When paired with a wheel & tyre package, this arch upgrade completely transforms the entire road presence of a Defender.

The final result is a world of difference from when the vehicle first rolled into Assetti. This hard top is now a premium looking commercial vehicle with added function thanks to the LED light bar, side steps and all terrain tyres.
