Stealth Protection

Stealth Protection

Paint protection film has grown in popularity over the last 5 years with people wanting to protect their expensive vehicles from damage. The advancements in the film technology has improved massively and PPF is virtually invisible once installed correctly. Great to protect your vehicle without changing the aesthetic but what if you want a change also?

This is where Stealth PPF comes in, a satin film originally designed to protect expensive satin paint finishes from the likes of Aston Martin. These expensive finishes are difficult to look after and should they ever need a repair, the costs can mount into the thousands for a simple scratch.

Stealth PPF has exactly the same properties as gloss film. It is resistant to damage, stone chips and has a self healing top layer. The big difference is that Stealth PPF on a gloss painted panel, completely changes the finish whilst offering all this protection. This opens up a new door for protection and customising your vehicle.

Take this brand new Range Rover Autobiography, a stunning example finished in black. Whilst some may argue it looks amazing already, once fitted with Stealth PPF the entire look of the vehicle changes. The finish offered is a sleek satin which accentuates bodylines thanks to Stealth PPF. Having access to an extensive pattern library from XPEL means we can alter patterns for jobs like this and minimise any gloss showing in the relief areas of the pattern.

This type of job is typically referred to as a ‘Stealth conversion’. Taking what was a gloss finish car and making it satin. Not to be confused with a vinyl wrap, Stealth PPF is a tough product designed to protect the paint underneath from damage. Vinyl by nature is much thinner and offers very little impact protection from stones and other damage. The other downside to vinyl wrap vs PPF is the installation. For the coverage you require with vinyl, especially with a colour change, the car needs extensive stripping. Sometimes this can even include removing all of the doors, which is a scary prospect for someone who’s just taken delivery of their 6 figure car. PPF is a much less intrusive installation with the only the number plates and sometimes badges needing to be removed. This removes the worry of warranty issues, rattles and knocks from broken trim clips or mis-aligned body panels.

When you opt for a Stealth conversion, our experienced team will consult with you to decide which areas to cover with Stealth PPF and which areas to protect with gloss PPF. The result is a fine balance of satin and gloss finishes but the important thing is that the entire vehicle remains protected. There’s no corner cutting, simply the option for you to create a truly unique aesthetic.

If you have a vehicle that you are looking to protect then Stealth PPF may be an option to consider to completely change the look of the vehicle, whilst ensuring the paint underneath remains in pristine condition.

We have completed Stealth conversions on many makes, models and colours. Opening up options for customers to have a finish on their vehicle unavailable from factory or as an alternative to expensive factory option satin paint.
